You’ll want to talk to a roofing contractor in this situation. Roofing contractors will be able to offer appraisals and many times these can be had for free in the form of a free estimate. Maybe have one or two different contractors take a look at the problem – if you hear two wildly different stories about what’s wrong with your roof, you’ll have good reason to be suspicious about their appraisals. But don’t go up there yourself until you’re sure of what you’re doing – and when in doubt, hire a contractor
